Kingsley Organisation Mission Statement
The Kingsley Organisation supports disabled people towards the pursuit of their ambitions by valuing each person as an individual and recognising the power of opportunity and choice
Kingsley Organisation Philosophy
The Organisation has developed over the years many policies and statements to guide our work. These are constantly reviewed and updated but the current statement of philosophy, outlined below, governs our activities and our development policies.
- We aim to work together as an inclusive community
- Every individual has a unique contribution to make
- Given an open, caring environment and an experience of trust and enjoyment we can all fulfil our best potential
- We recognise and value individual uniqueness and diversity
- Recognising different skills means that some people are more suited to particular tasks than others
- the organisation offers people a range of activities and tasks to discover their own skills and potentiality
- People have freedom to choose their own activities
- With choice and freedom comes responsibility
- At Kingsley Organisation we support one another with objective praise and criticism
- We share information and ideas freely
- We all make mistakes
- We all have needs
- We all experience dependence and independence in our daily lives
- Some people have less choice and control over their independence; we work together to achieve choice and control for each individual over their own independence
- we take positive steps not to generalise and label people as belonging to any particular group.
- While recognising the need of other agencies to label people as "in need" or as "users" or "carers", in Kingsley Organisation we find ways to talk with one another as individuals.
- The Organisation has developed detailed policies and procedures to ensure the implementation of the above philosophy.
